Chairman's Message
The Chairman's Message of Octone Foundation.
"Using culture as a bridge to connect youth with Chinese and Western arts."
Mr. He Fan, Chairman of Octone Foundation
As a cultural education platform rooted in Hong Kong and facing the future, Octone Foundation firmly believes that culture and art are not only carriers of heritage but also forces that inspire innovation and build consensus.
Our mission is—
"To use culture and art as a medium to stimulate Hong Kong youth's deep identification with and innovative expression of Chinese culture."
This is not just a slogan, but a direction for action:
Youth Empowerment
We will provide young people with creative resources and international platforms, encouraging them to reinterpret the Chinese spirit using contemporary artistic languages. Whether through visual arts, digital media, or cross-disciplinary creations, we believe the voices of youth can inject new vitality into traditional culture.
Social Connection
We will build platforms for intergenerational and cross-ethnic dialogue, allowing Hong Kong people from different backgrounds to meet and exchange through cultural activities. For example, through oral history projects and art co-creation workshops for youth and ethnic minorities, we hope to break down barriers and strengthen Hong Kong's social cohesion with culture as the bond.
Rooted in Local, Looking Global
Hong Kong is a window where Chinese and Western cultures meet. We respect its diverse background while hoping to strengthen the exploration of Chinese cultural roots. We will support youth in uncovering the Chinese genes in local culture, connect with resources in the Greater Bay Area, and explore its unique value as a meeting point of civilizations.
Boundless Innovation, Inclusive Coexistence
We encourage diverse expressions, whether it's the digital rebirth of traditional arts or youth conveying cultural thoughts through street art. We will also explore new models of art and public welfare, such as supporting disadvantaged groups through artistic creation, making cultural practice a carrier of social care.
Sustainability
We pursue long-term social impact. Each project will have feedback mechanisms to ensure cultural achievements take root in the community, such as transforming youth creations into school curricula, community exhibitions, or even part of Hong Kong's cultural landmarks.
Global Vision, Chinese Narrative
Hong Kong's international network is our advantage. We will support youth in taking their works to the world, participating in international dialogue with a 'Hong Kong perspective on Chinese stories,' and conveying modern interpretations of Eastern aesthetics to the world.
Cultural Soft Power, Starting with Youth
Octone Foundation not only addresses the deep need for identity among Hong Kong youth but also contributes to the construction of national cultural soft power through 'soft' artistic practices, unifying social and strategic values.
