Co-organised by Octone Foundation and We're Family, and jointly organised and sponsored by the Wong Tai Sin District Office, the National Day and Mid-Autumn Festival Celebration will take place on 19–20 September 2026 at Diamond Hill Water Feature Park (the former Air Force Hangar) in Wong Tai Sin!
Through a diverse range of cultural experiences, the event will feature Hong Kong intangible cultural heritage craft experiences, creative hands-on workshops, and stage performances, bringing the community together to celebrate the 77th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China and the Mid-Autumn Festival.

About Artists' Workshops
林嘉裕 Ingko Lam
戴倩 Cindy
Ingko is a student of Mr. Lui Ming, master of Hong Kong’s traditional bamboo steamer craftsmanship, Ingko Lam has been practicing and teaching traditional bamboo steamer-making techniques for many years. Her work combines traditional craftsmanship with contemporary design, with a focus on preserving and reinterpreting local intangible cultural heritage. Through teaching and public art projects, she also explores new ways of presenting bamboo craftsmanship in a contemporary context.
This hands-on workshop focuses on traditional bamboo steamer-making techniques and combines introduction, demonstration and practical experience. Guided by the instructor, participants will learn the step-by-step process of making a traditional bamboo steamer. At the end of the workshop, each participant will be able to take home a bamboo steamer lid they have made themselves.

魏舍椏 Elsa Ngai
Elsa Ngai is an artist primarily working with mineral pigments. Her practice explores the subtle boundary between reality and illusion. Through layering and polishing techniques, she combines multiple images across different layers, allowing viewers to form their own interpretations. Drawing inspiration from nature and ancient ruins, she places organic forms alongside everyday observations to explore the subtle relationships between the two.
This workshop introduces Gelli Printing through a combination of demonstration and hands-on practice. Participants will learn monoprinting techniques and experiment with different approaches, including using stencils, plant printing and direct drawing, to transfer images onto a gel printing plate. Each participant will create a unique print with rich layers and textures.
As a final collaborative activity, one print from each participant will be collected and combined into a community collage, reflecting the diverse and creative character of the community.

陳潔婷 Mae Chan
Mae Chan graduated from the Royal College of Art in the UK with a Master’s degree in Textiles. Her practice brings together textiles, sculpture and traditional craft, exploring the possibilities of materials through a diverse and interdisciplinary approach.
This workshop introduces participants to the traditional craft of wet felting through a hands-on experience. Participants will learn the basic techniques of working with wool fibres, using water and gentle agitation to create their own felted artwork. The workshop offers an accessible and creative way to explore textile craftsmanship through touch, colour and texture.

Okapi Studio
Founded by creators with a background in visual arts, Okapi Studio is dedicated to exploring the potential of everyday materials and bringing creativity into everyday life. Its practice focuses on the relationship between materials, sensory experiences and cultural transformation. Through a series of interactive workshops, the studio reinterprets the connection between traditional and contemporary practices, while encouraging participants to reflect on the balance between cultural preservation and innovation.
This workshop invites participants to create their own personalised scented sachets using a selection of locally grown herbs and flowers. Through sensory exploration of nine different plants, participants will discover their natural scents, textures and practical uses, before creating their own unique scented sachet.

Papertecture (Nick Tsao)
Papertecture is a Hong Kong paper art studio founded by architect Nick Tsao. Its creative concept is inspired by “Paper Architecture,” focusing on imagined designs that have not been built or may never be realised, and translating architectural thinking into paper art practices. Rooted in traditional craftsmanship, material exploration and cultural reinterpretation, the studio continues to develop contemporary paper art and promote paper craft through public projects and workshops.
This workshop offers a hands-on introduction to Chinese paper cutting. With demonstrations and guidance from the instructor, participants will learn basic paper-cutting techniques and use paper to design and create their own patterns, producing decorative paper artworks with cultural meaning.

蕭文衍 Siu Man Hin
Siu Man Hin obtained a Bachelor of Visual Arts (Honours) from Hong Kong Baptist University in 2017. In 2021, he established Studio Lee Yu and Craft. His practice centres on artistic creation and explores the possibilities and cultural value of craft through an ongoing investigation of materials and hands-on making. He also actively participates in art education programmes and workshops, using these experiences to deepen and expand his understanding of craftsmanship as part of his creative practice.
This hands-on workshop focuses on creating interactive mechanical installations, combining simple mechanical principles, hands-on assembly and kinetic design. Using materials such as wooden sticks, ropes and mechanical components, participants will learn how mechanical installations work and work together to create a kinetic artwork inspired by the theme of “Floating.”
The workshop also incorporates elements of the historic site and public art, connecting the creative experience with the history and cultural context of the Water Feature Park.

蔡慧國 Choi Wai-kwok
Choi is a PhD candidate and Visiting Lecturer at the Central Academy of Fine Arts, with an MA from the Royal College of Art and a BA in Visual Communication from CAFA.
The artist creates hand-drawn line works inspired by Hong Kong‘s intangible cultural heritage — the Fire Dragon Dance. Participants are invited to colour freely on the line drawings, creating their own unique fire dragon pieces. Before getting started, we invite visitors to learn about the historical origins and cultural significance of the Fire Dragon Dance, allowing everyone to deepen their understanding of this precious traditional folk custom while creating.
羅嘉豪 Karl Law
New media artist and curator. Karl received his BA and MA from Hong Kong Baptist University and the Central Academy of Fine Arts respectively. His practice explores the interpretation of traditional culture through technology, with extensive experience in exhibition curation.
Participants can use tools such as metal ballpoint styluses and plant materials to press various shapes and textures onto foam plates, then transfer multiple patterns into their own unique artworks. The workshop is themed around Mid-Autumn Festival and National Day, incorporating elements of traditional Chinese culture. Pre-made foam plates will also be available on site, allowing participants to transfer prints directly and experience the joy of printmaking with ease.
Beiya
羅嘉豪 Karl Law
Beiya earned both her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in the United States. Her practice has long focused on public art, community building, intimacy, and color psychology.
In this workshop, every string of paper DIY chains carries a two-way connection — we interlock various paper-cut shapes and flexible knots with contemporary symbols of connection, such as “you, me, them,” Bluetooth, and Wi-Fi, marking the bonds between people.
