“Panda Wonders: The Story of Giant Pandas and Hong Kong” Book Launch and Donation Ceremony Concludes Successfully with Support from Octone Foundation

On February 26, the book launch and donation ceremony for “Panda Wonders: The Story of Giant Pandas and Hong Kong”, jointly organized by Chung Hwa Education and We For Book and supported by the Octone Foundation, was grandly held in Hong Kong. The event gathered government officials, corporate representatives, educators, and over 200 students, marking a significant milestone in Hong Kong’s panda conservation education.

Mr. He Fan**, Chairman of the Octone Foundation, jointly presented the books with representatives from Jing Yuan Charity Foundation, China Everbright Group, China Mobile Hong Kong to schools.

Mr. He Fan (third from the left) represented the Octone Foundation in presenting the new books to representatives of schools including HKFEW Wong Cho Bau Secondary School, The NTWJWA Leung Sing Tak Primary School, Precious Blood Primary School South Horizons, Fukien Secondary School Affiliated School, Good Hope School.

Mr Stanley CHOI Tak-shing, JP, Chairman of the Committee on the Promotion of Civic Education appointed by the Secretary for Home and Youth Affairs, emphasized that citizenship education is essential for youth development. He highlighted collaboration between the Home and Youth Affairs Bureau and the Committee on the Promotion of Civic Education in promoting civic and national education, fostering core values such as respect, responsibility, care, and inclusivity.

Mr FU Wei-zhong, Chairman of Sino United Publishing stated that pandas symbolize the bond between Hong Kong and the mainland. He thanked Ocean Park for its long-term care of pandas and expressed hope that these iconic animals will continue to inspire Hong Kong.

The book blends rigorous science with accessible storytelling through vivid narratives, rare images, and easy-to-understand content, it systematically chronicles the deep bond between Hong Kong and giant pandas, showcasing local conservation achievements.

Mr. HE-Fan, Octone Foundation noted that the book aims to guide youth to appreciate biodiversity and scientific exploration. The Foundation pledged continued support for science education to position Hong Kong as a model of sustainable development.

Mr Ivan WONG Chi-fai, CEO of Ocean Park Hong Kong, emphasized: "The publication of this book is the result of collaborative efforts from multiple parties, demonstrating the shared commitment to conservation across Hong Kong’s communities. We look forward to inspiring more young people to join the ranks of nature protection."

The organizers announced collaborative school activities, including visits to Ocean Park’s conservation bases, lectures, and workshops to further embed conservation values in schools.
